The Lionesses extend good run in Liga F

Athletic register a fourth consecutive victory, beating Valencia CF thanks to goals from Oguiza and Sanadri, both assisted by Nevado

Another win for Athletic Club in Liga F. David Aznar's side continue to impress in the league and swept away Valencia CF at Lezama on Sunday.

After overcoming Huelva, Betis at home and Levante UD last time out, Las Rojiblancas beat the Valencians after breaking the deadlock in the second half.

The first half was very even. Valencia CF pressed well and prevented Athletic from finding space. Pauleta had Valencia's best chance in the 17th minute, hitting the crossbar with an effort.

The Lionesses looked to hit back on the counter-attack, but were unable to score. Bibiane and Nahikari had the clearest chances for the home side. Everything was to be decided in the second half.

Lezama were hungry for goals and Zugasti, who came on in the second half to replace the injured Jone Amezaga, gave the first signs as soon as the game resumed.

Athletic took the lead in the 48th minute. Nevado sent in a corner and Oguiza got her first goal of the season heading in at the far post.

Valencia never downed tools as they went for an equaliser. Asun tried a shot from outside the box, but Nanclares made a comfortable save. In the next move, Sanadri had a chance to increase the lead. The game was far from over.

Nevado made sure the visitors had no chance to get back into the game. She delivered a superb through ball for Sanadri to run in alone and finish to perfection in the 78th minute.

The San Sebastian-born player scored her second goal as a Zurigorri and Nevado completed her second assist of the match. Nanclares wanted to claim her share of the limelight and made a tremendous save from Anita Marcos at close range.

On Saturday, Athletic travel to Donostia for the Basque Derby, taking on Real Sociedad at the Reale Arena at 18:00 CET.
