SD Eibar - Athletic Club

Athletic Club Women are straight back to winning ways after last weekend's loss against Mardrid CFF, recording a 0-2 win over SD Eibar at Ipurua.

Ane Azkona made it 1-0 just after the restart and Jone Amezaga put the game to bed in stoppage. Three important points which keep the Lionesses towards the top of the table.

Tras el susto incial, el Athletic tuvo el balón, aunque apenas inquietó a Miralles.

With the exception of an Eibar effort which came via a bad clearance, Athletic controlled the ball early on. However, the Lionesses struggled to breakdown a resolute home defence.

Maite Zubieta's header in the 72nd minute could have made it 2-0, but Miralles made a good save to keep her team alive. Time was running out and the Blaugranas couldn't get a foothold in Athletic's box. Maddi blocked a Pizarro shot and, moments later, Nanclares saved a header from Elba.

The home side grew more determined and with 10 minutes to go they began to send in dangerous crosses from the flanks.

Athletic remained composed in defence as they looked to hold on to their lead. Eibar kept pushing forward, but Jone Amezaga, who had only just come on, thumped the ball past Miralles after a surging run from deep.

Another win and a perfect record in derbies this season. Next up, the Lionesses will host a struggling Villarreal side at Lezama on Saturday.
