Just a week before the sudden death of Rafael Henzel, the Brazilian journalist spent a few days in Bilbao, invited by the Athletic Club Foundation on the occasion of the screening of the film “Nossa Chape”, which opened the Thinking Football Film Festival.

Rafael Henzel participated in the cineforum held after the documentary and his testimony as a survivor of an air tragedy like that of the Chapecoense takes on a new meaning after his unexpected death due to a heart attack, while playing football with friends, only two and a half years after being one of the only six survivors of the accident.

Rafael Henzel’s bond with the Chapecoense team was enormous, since as a journalist and radio broadcaster he had closely followed the history of the Brazilian team from its origins. Precisely as a prestigious broadcaster, Rafael Henzel had accepted the Athletic Club’s invitation to narrate one of Athletic’s legendary goals in his own voice and that the voice-over formed part of the Club Museum’s collection. An anecdote that reflects the kindness and good memory that Rafael Henzel left after visiting our city. Rest in peace.
