Today, Tuesday 21st of May, Athletic Club Foundation celebrated the first training session of the sport called Walking Football. The 19 registered players (the registration period is still open) have trained on pitch 7 in Lezama and, little by little, they have become familiar with the rules of the game of this new sport which aims to ensure that the over-50s can continue to enjoy football in another way. Among other rules, you can not run, or lift the ball over your head, and contacts are penalized. Walking Football seeks to avoid, as far as possible, the risk of injury, more pronounced as the age of the participants increases.

The next Walking Football sessions planned by Athletic Club Foundation will take place on the 28th of May and on the 4th, 11th and 18th of June from 10:00am to 12:00pm at the sports facilities of Lezama. Those sessions are open to all people over 50 who want to try this new modality and then decide whether to join the Walking Football teams and tournaments that Athletic Club Foundation will launch the season 2019/20. The participants will be divided into age groups, being the teams mixed.

Anyone interested in participating in the sessions, completely free of charge, can write to [email protected] . Football in a different way.
