The premiere of LaLiga Santander 2019-20 in San Mamés against FC Barcelona, reigning champion of the competition, will have highlights outside the purely sporting plane. On such an important day, Athletic Club will recognise the figure of one of the great myths of its history, Koldo Aguirre. The players of the red-and-white team will wear black armbands in memory of the legendary player, coach and ambassador, whose memory will be kept a minute of silence just before the start of the match. His widow and daughters will watch the match in the Main Box.
For their part, the ladies’ team will receive more than deserved recognition for their recent historic triumph in the 65th Carranza Trophy. The lionesses will go out to the centre of the field with the huge cup at half-time to receive the ovation of San Mamés for his victory in the first edition of this summer tournament with the participation of women’s teams.
