Garitano: “We have difficulties to score goals”

The manager, “not happy at all with the result”, highlights Athletic’s effort and performance in their contest against Valladolid (1-1)

Gaizka Garitano has admitted “not to be at all happy” with the outcome of the game between Athletic Club and Real Valladolid held in San Mamés. After a final 1-1, Garitano has given his view on the match: “It would be unfair if I based my evaluation only on the result. My players gave their all and had plenty of spells of good football. We got near the area on repeated occasions, especially during the first twenty minutes, but we still lack clarity. Valladolid, though having taken control of the game for fifteen minutes, did not create any chances. They took advantage of a mistake of ours and their goal was really upsetting. We finished strongly, ending in their box, but we have difficulties to score.

The red-and-white manager has regretted not being able to pick up the three points at San Mamés for the second time in a row: “We are hugely disappointed because we didn’t win despite deserving it. Of course, we know we are going through a little spell of bad results, since we haven’t won in the last four games. But when you are in this situation you have to appreciate the positive aspects, and today we’ve played well for a significant part of the game.
