“We’re playing at home again, and we want to win”

Gaizka Garitano warns about the danger posed by Celta: “They are made to be much higher up. They have the need and the level to do it, so it’ll be a tough contest.”

Gaizka Garitano has talked to the media at Lezama this evening, ahead of the last training session before the first league match of 2020 at San Mamés. Athletic Club will welcome RC Celta on Sunday (6.30 pm) after five weekends without playing at La Catedral: “We’re playing back home, where we feel comfortable. We are really looking forward to playing at San Mamés again and we’ll try to do a good game to get back to the winning track.”

The red-and-white manager is aware that the team from Vigo are not at their best, but warns about the danger this fact poses: “They are a team made to be higher up than they currently are, whose players have a high technical level. They like playing on the inside, using wall passes, and they have really fast players in the front line. Any of them can finish off the game after any play. Therefore, they have the need and level to do it and that’s what makes them dangerous.”

Despite all this, Garitano hopes to get a victory at San Mamés: “It’s a very important match for us and we know it. We’re playing at home, so we’ll try to hold the reins to pick up the three points.”
