New "irakurLE-ON" reading campaign

The Foundation has published two posters with Dani Vivian, Nico Williams and Erika Vázquez in which, through a nod to the illustrator Norman Rockwell, young people are encouraged to discover their passion for books

The Athletic Club Foundation has presented its new reading promotion campaign "irakurLE-ON" in Lezama along with two posters, inspired by the famous American illustrator Norman Rockwell, that encourage young people to discover a passion for reading.

In the first of the posters, legendary Lioness Erika Vázquez is shown reading the club magazine with her face on the cover. On her knees is a series of books by Basque authors such as Txani Rodríguez, Aixa De la Cruz, Miren Amuriza, Alaine Agirre, Edurne Portela and Karmele Jaio.

The idea is to convey how in literature, like in football, women hold a place that has historically been denied to them and that they are there to stay. The selection of female authors is just a small sample of the current great moment in Basque literature is experiencing in terms of female writers.

In the second poster, Dani Vivian appears in a dressing room reading a fictitious book entitled 'Historias de fútbol' (Football Stories), sat next to the centre-back is a curious Nico Williams. The message of this poster is that passion for reading, like passion for football, can impact and be passed on those who love and admire us. Reading, like football, is to be enjoyed with our loved ones.

The Foundation will publish 8,000 copies of each poster, which will be sent free of charge to the affiliated football clubs, libraries and educational centres that request them.

“Gogoaren indarra” (The Will to Win), new book by Fundazioa

The irakurLE-ON campaign is accompanied by the publication of a book called 'Gogoaren Indarra' (The Will to Win) by Onintza Enbeita. It is a short novel that, in the format of the classic "Discover your own adventure" books, follows the story of a little girl as she reaches the Athletic Club first team. Readers have to make decisions, thus illustrating the extra difficulties girls face in order to make their football dreams come true.

The book, designed for readers aged 12 and over, will be distributed in the same way as the posters. Schools that would like to receive books and posters can request them by sending an email to?utm_source=athletic-club.eus&utm_medium=referral&utm_campaign=actualidad-athletic-club&utm_content=new-irakurle-on-reading-campaign [email protected]

New Letters & Football website

All the information on the irakurLE-ON campaigns, as well as on the Foundation's publications, can be found on the new Letters and Football website. The literature festival, like the Thinking Football film festival, is one of the pillars of the Foundation's cultural project.

As of this year, both festivals have their own websites. After thirteen editions of the Letters and Football festival and ten of Thinking Football, fans now have at their disposal all the information about these two pioneering initiatives in the world of football.
