During the last month of August, the recently created Biscayan enterprise, SOYCAPAZ.COM, carried out a study on the situation of the webs of the Spanish Football League’s ‘First division’ teams. This study has revealed that the totality of these clubs have not adapted their web pages for people with some type of disability. It is discouraging to see that, in an involuntary but systematic way, the best football league in the world discriminates against a collective that traditionally everyone forgets.

Fans, associates, supporters and followers of this sport that suffer some kind of disability, find serious difficulties to access information that the clubs provide through their official webs. The same thing occurs with the web pages of the Royal Spanish Football Federation (RFEF), the Professional Football League (LFP), and the Superior Sports Counsel (CSD); and, due to the reach of Internet, this has a direct bearing on millions of people worldwide that are only able to keep up with the happenings of their team through the Net.

This fact is now known by all the clubs and agencies cited and, to date, the only team that has acquired the report and has communicated its intention to adapt its web to people with disabilities is Athletic Club. One more time this Club has shown to be different from the others and, in a respectful gesture, it intends to eliminate the barriers that hinder the access of information and thus fight digital exclusion.

Through this press release, we call on the remainder of clubs, so that they follow the road undertaken by the team from Bilbao and, in this way, they too ‘DESIGN FOR EVERYONE’; otherwise, the League of Stars will not be worthy of such a description.
