Information about the Valencia Camp

Athletic Club will carry out a special training camp in Valencia between the 19th and 26th of January, and will be lodged at the Hotel La Calderona in Bétera. Trainings will take place at the Soccer Massia Grava grounds, located in Puzol. All press appearances will also be held there following the training sessions.

Below is a list of travellers:

Heading the expedition will be Fermín Palomar (Second Vice-President) and Board members Juan Manuel Delgado and Fede Arruti.

Travelling with them will be Sports Coordinator Daniel Ruiz-Bazan, Manager Jose Manuel Esnal, ‘Mané’, Assistant Coach Angel Garitano, ‘Ondarru’, Physical Trainer Manuel Delgado and Goalkeeper Coach Carlos Meléndez.

Also making up the group will be Team Delegate Jose Maria Núñez, Doctors Sabino Padilla and Francisco Angulo, Press Officer Patxi Xabier Fernandez, Physical Therapists Jesus Zelaia, Alvaro Campa and Alfonso Ruiz, the Masseur Juan Manuel Ipiña, Eqipment Handlers Jose Antonio Narbaez and Txetxu Gallego, as well as Podiatrist Kepa Galardi.

As for the players, the whole squad will travel except for player Pablo Orbaiz who will continue his rehabilitation in Lezama.

On the reasons that impel this type of training camp, the technicians indicate that in the first place the team’s bonding will be reinforced even more and certain aspects, that haven’t been worked on before, will be worked on more calmly. Spa therapy will be used, the Lezama fields will have a rest and the coincidence in dates will be taken advantage of so that the players are not so immersed in the derby pre-match.

With regards to the activities scheduled, we’d like to indicate that, unless there are any last minute changes, the team will train on Monday morning, Tuesday evening, and that it is studying the possibility of disputing a friendly match on Wednesday, and if not possible then training will take place, as will be done on Thursday and Friday, when the team is scheduled to return to Bilbao.
Athletic Club will take their own bus, driven by Juan Carlos Saiz de la Maza.
