The Food and Agriculture Organisation of the United Nations (FAO) and the Liga Profesional de Fútbol have organized a campaign ‘Soccer and FAO fight against hunger’.
The goal is to raise awareness about the problem of hunger and collect funds to finance projects that offer lasting solutions.
The scheduled dates on which fans from the different clubs could make donations via SMS in favour of the fight against hunger were from 21 through 28 October 2007. This past Sunday, it was done in Valladolid and starting today all Athletic fans that wish to collaborate may do so by dialling 5030 with the text FAO4.
One-hundred percent (100%) of the money collected will serve to finance Telefood micro-projects, and which, as is the case of our club, takes shape in the creation of a garden at the primary school in Qixin, Guizhou Province (China) with a cost of 7,118 Euros.
During the pre-match activities of the Athletic Club-Betis match, players from both teams will be donning t-shirts to support this campaign.
