Javier Eskalza passes away

Former Athletic Club player and staff member Javier Eskalza Ellakuria passed away today, 16 November. Javier Eskalza was a member of the first squad between the 1973-1974 to 1979-1980 seasons, where he disputed a total of 207 matches; 162 in Liga, 26 in Copa (one goal) and another 18 in the UEFA Cup. He played 3 matches with the Euskadi National and one with the Spanish National.

Funeral services for Javier Eskalza will take place on Sunday, 18 November, at 11:30in the morning at Andra Mari Church in Arrankudiaga.

All Athletic Club teams that play this weekend will wear the black armband.
