Athletic Club would like to request that the media exercise more responsibility when it comes treating any news that affects minors and in particular, for our part, toward those integrated in the various categories of our organization. Their physical and technical qualities are what determine their entry in Lezama and the rest of dependent structures, never the colour of their skin, their religious or political beliefs.

In a society such as ours, everyday more and more plural, to give emphasis to aspects that have nothing to do with football, and more so if it refers to minors, can have a negative influence in their formation and personal development.

Athletic Club therefore asks that the media respect the ‘Manual of Journalistic Style’ sealed by the Biscayan Journalist Association, the Basque Government’s Department of Justice and the Basque Country NGO Coordinator Harresiak Apurtuz, at Euskalduna Palace in April 2000, in the presence of Ararteko; presentation at which the need for a standardized effort is specifically sheltered ‘avoiding stereotypes and semantic terminology which could harm the social assessment of these people’ and thereby promoting an effect of normalization which society itself demands.

Athletic Club would like to emphasize the integrating character of its project and assumes these principles as their own in its daily tasks, always respecting the values and philosophy that characterize this Institution.
