According to information received from the RFEF, the drawing of the next three Copa rounds will be carried out this coming Monday, 1 December, at 13:00 hours, in the Federation’s Madrilenian Headquarters; that is, Round of 16, Quarterfinals, and Semi-finals.
The reason for grouping the rounds on the same date comes motivated by ‘the time proximity between the three rounds, which postulates the convenience that the participant clubs know in plenty of time their respective adversaries, in order to adopt the necessary provisions’.
The rules for the Round of 16 drawing will be the following: Pure drawing between these sixteen teams: FC Barcelona, Atlético de Madrid, Valencia, Sevilla, Deportivo, Real Racing Club, Espanyol, Almeria, Real Valladolid, Real Betis, Athletic Club, Atlético Osasuna, Sporting, Mallorca, Polideportivo Ejido and Real Union Club.
The order of grounds will be based on the order of ball extraction, except in the case of inferior category clubs, which will dispute the first round on their ground. The heat rounds will be played on the 7 and 14 January 2009.
The quarterfinals will be disputed on 21 and 28 January and the order of the ground will be base on the order of extraction of the balls, as with the semi-finals, with dates 4 February and 4 March.
