Indoor Football: Defeat in Barcelona

Athletic Club has lost 9-6 against FC Barcelona in its debut in the Indoor Liga. Lizarralde, Oskar Vales (2), Kike Aiukar (2) and Joseba Agirre scored the goals for our team.

The true ‘Dream Team’ suffered in view of Athletic Club’s pride, since the lions recovered from a 7-1 to a 7-6 to end the match 9-6 in favour of the Catalans. When Athletic was on the verge of equalizing, a decision by referee Albert Jiménez against our team came as a hard blow for its aspirations, even those of taking the game.

In the first half, local superiority was absolute, however, in the second half, Athletic’s pride and breed came into the open, as well as good soccer, honoured by the numerous fans among which was a nourished representation of Athletic followers. Oskar Vales and Kike Aiukar assumed the weight of the match and also to highlight are the debut by Iñigo Larrainzar and Roberto Urizar who totally exceeded expectations and the terrific performance by Imanol Etxebarria. In spite of the defeat, the performance in the second half harbours faith in view of Real Madrid’s visit to La Casilla on 20 February.
