Athletic Club and Umbro, two experts in the field.
Athletic Club and Umbro are destined to get on well with each other. Football in its purest state, something in which both are specialists, each in their own field of expertise. The perfect symbiosis, a return to the roots of both entities. Umbro is the universally known specialist football brand and have establishments in more than 100 countries all over the globe. Founded in 1924, in England, the cradle of football where Athletic Club can also trace back its roots, and where the National team acquires its attire, as well as other countries like Norway and Sweden, and prestigious clubs such as Olympique Lyonnais (France), Santos (Brazil), Independiente (Argentina), Manchester City or Blackburn Rovers, not to mention other clubs from the prestigious Premier League.
For Athletic Club this union signifies the donning of fabric used by Umbro for its apparel, which is top notch in terms of quality and technology. At the same time, this union gives us the opportunity to take a look at their first steps, as founders at the end of the XIX century, a period which coincides with the ample English Colony who were living here at that time, and who made it possible for us to know their habits, trends and customs which until then were completely unknown in our country. Football, Athletic Club and everything English, a traditional cocktail, which has made a strong comeback and has provided a renewed appeal thanks to the incorporation of Umbro.
In this partnership Athletic Club offers Umbro its more than 110 years of fair play, values such as self-pride, fidelity to a unique philosophy and devotion to a society it has been raised in and a pitch which will also be turning one hundred imbued with the skin-deep aroma of football, acknowledgement of an institution as a point of reference in junior football.
The “Hello! We are Football” campaign will be launched over the next couple of days and will continue over the next couple of months, with different activities and initiatives taking place, and that will bring the Umbro / Athletic Club alliance closer to the fans in a new and original fashion.
The campaign can be followed via a Blog, which is already operational and accessible at http://www.hellowearefootball.com/ or the Athletic Club Web Page http://www.athletic-club.net/web/main.asp?a=10&b=5&c=0&d=0&idi=1 Where the user will be able to follow the distinct activities and have access to exclusive contents, such as the possibility of being the first to see images of Athletic Club’s New and Official Umbro Sporting kit for the upcoming 2009-2010 season.
On the other hand, on Wednesday, 8 July the presentations of the First and Second Division Sporting kits will take place during a Press Conference at 18:00 hours at the San Mamés Press Conference Room. Afterwards, numerous members of the First Division team will pose, on the pitch, for the members of the Media in attendance.
After this at 19.00 the entire team will have a training session, open to the public at San Mamés.
