Club Referendum to all members concerning Lezama

With regards to the corroboration and updating of our philosophy


Athletic Club will be conducting a survey directed towards its more than thirty-five thousand members as of today, with the aim of making them participants in the reflection process to be carried out throughout 2010 with reference to Lezama’s future and magnitude, concerning the unity of action, the defence and the preservation of our centennial philosophy, model support and the establishment of modern bases, so that Lezama can continue being the heart of our entity.

Just as the Athletic Club President, Fernando García Macua had announced, at both the presentation of Lezama’s new organization chart on 28 September, and at the Ordinary General Assembly held in the month of October, the current Board of directors intend to initiate a process of shared-reflections over the next couple of days, with the aim of gathering experiences, knowledge and evaluations that would allow us to carry on being a junior ranks based club and one that is loyal to our philosophy throughout the XXI Century.

The first step of said process is the referendum which starts today, by way of a written questionnaire that has been sent to the Athletic Club members, a survey from which we expect to obtain first-hand information regarding the main virtues and aspects to improve on at Lezama to make this training centre the most important in Europe when it comes to research, development and innovation in football. Definitely, to be avant-garde in our way of doing things, our way of working and in feeling, to provide a role-model and mirror for all those clubs with young players’ reserves.

Over the next couple of days, all Athletic members will receive, at home, a twelve-point questionnaire which will allow them to express their opinions about the Lezama projects, the Lezama model, and the values upheld at Lezama, and wherein the appropriate suggestions can be made.

The Club intends to broaden this study with its own professionals as well as professionals from other clubs, federations, universities and institutions and will count on international experts from all walks of life, in addition to the Athletic members who we hope will participate actively and responsibly.
