The Athletic Club Fundazioa Foundation is organizing a colloquium to be given by the prestigious journalist Enric González at Ibaigane Palace on Friday 18 December at 18:30 hours.

Enric González (Barcelona, 1959) is one of the most renowned journalists at present. A brilliant author and precise analyst, has recently been awarded with the prestigious Francisco Cerecedo Award by the European Journalists Association (APE) for his work.

Throughout his professional career, he has been a foreign correspondent in London, Paris, New York and Rome and will take charge of El País’s correspondents’ section in Jerusalem shortly. Likewise, he has covered important events in recent history such as the First Gulf War, the genocide in Rwanda, Pope John Paul II’s death or the Twin Tower terrorist attacks in New York in 2001.

From 2003 to 2007, Enric González published a column for the El País newspaper every Monday under the heading of “Historias Del Calcio (In the Calcium)”. In which the writer, based on an analysis of the football currently played in Italy, would talk about Italian culture, sociology and history. The column soon became a space for the cultured fans of football and of literature, and in 2007 the publishers RBA gathered these columns together in a volume also titled “Historias Del Calcio”.

During the colloquium (open to the general public providing there’s room), which will take place at Ibaigane Palace; Enric González will talk about the relationship between football and journalism. Afterwards, a talk with the public will be conducted, where issues related to journalism, the media, and the correspondents’ job today and so on will be spoken about.
