Beach Football 7 Championship

The Athletic Club Foundation is running the fifth edition of the Beach Football Championship that will take place between 18 April and 27 June at Ereaga Beach (Getxo). This edition will beat the participation record, with ninety teams registered and more than one thousand three hundred boys and girls as players.

The championship is aimed towards youth and youngster teams, from schools and ikastolas (Basque school), and is totally compatible with school sports (the matches are on Sunday mornings). The matches are to be played in the Football 7 format and on humid sand, making the most of the low tides. The tournament’s format is a play offs one, with the finals being played on the weekend of the 27th June. With this aim, a festive day will be held, in which there will be sporting exhibitions and games for those attending.

From the Foundation we are glad to have reached this symbolic edition which is one of our star activities, whilst we are able to see joyously for ourselves that each year our championship is taking root in Biscay, as shown by the increasing number of registrations per edition. Likewise, we’d like to show our gratitude to the sponsors for their support in this exciting activity, that this year are Getxo Town Hall, Telefónica, Coca-Cola and El Mundo Deportivo (Newspaper).
