Koikili and Gurpegi in Press Conference

Koikili Lertxundi and Carlos Gurpegi have been the feature players at the Husa Jardines de Albia Hotel press conference on Monday, 3 May.

The defender said: ‘We were truly hopeful, but things turned uphill. What was decisive was our strategy, not our lack of stamina. We now have fewer options, but they still exist. On Wednesday, Malaga will give us a workout and they’ll base that on a strong defence, but we must go after them and see if we can recover our offensive level’.

The midfielder stated that ‘we have to go back to being a positive team, one that starts off strongly and scores first. Against Mallorca our intention was to put on the pressure in the second half, but both goals came early and that’s where the uneasiness began. They’ve taught me to never give in, if I had done so I wouldn’t be here today. We have to fight in every match as if it were the last’.
