Next Thursday, 3 February 2011, the president of Athletic Club, Fernando García Macua and the president of the Biscayan Football Federation, José Ignacio Gómez Mardones, will be presenting, at 13.00 h., at Biscayan Federation head offices, the match to be disputed between Athletic Club and Celtic FC on 26 March at San Mames. The presentation will also count on the presence of Angel María Villar, president of the Spanish Football Federation and Jose Luis Bilbao.
This will be the second time that Athletic will play with the aim of raising money for Biscayan football, after last year’s match against the Paraguayan team.
The Celtic Football Club is a historical European team that played its first match in 1888, and who has since then achieved forty-two League titles, and thirty-four Scottish Cups.
The first British Club, and the only Scottish one, to win the European Cup, an event which took place in 1967 against Inter Milan in Lisbon. Afterwards, in 2003, the club also participated in the UEFA Cup final, losing to FC Porto in Seville.
The stadium where matches are played, Celtic Park, has a crowd capacity of sixty thousand, and it is estimated that the Club has more than nine million fans throughout the world.
