Valverde, new Athletic head coach

Athletic Club and Ernesto Valverde reached an agreement in which he will become Athletic’s new head coach. President Josu Urrutia will lead the official presentation to be held on Friday, 21 June, at 12:30 hours at the Ibaigane Palace press room.

Along with Valverde, former Athletic Club player and trainer Jon Aspiazu will be the assistant coach. Jose Antonio Pozanco, licensed by the INEF in Barcelona in 1996, will be the physical trainer. Over the course of his career he has formed part of various clubs. He’s a former FC Barcelona B (88-91) player coordinating as physical trainer and training methodology of its academic programme (1996-2002), physical trainer of Elche CF (2004-07), member of the physical trainers of FC Barcelona’s premier squad (2007-08), physical trainer of Villarreal (2009-10), Olympiacos (2008-09 and 2010-12) and Valencia CF (2012-13).
