Peña Zalla Trophy

This Thursday, 15 January, the international midfielder Ander Iturraspe will collect the ‘Corazon de Leon’ Trophy which, as every year, the Zalla Athletic Rock Supporters’ Club organizes to distinguish those rojiblanco premier team players who identify themselves with the values that represent Athletic. The award ceremony will begin at 19:00 hours at the Fan Club’s headquarters.

Ander Iturraspe prevailed by a narrow margin over Ibai Gomez in the voting conducted among the members of the Zalla Supporters’ Club in choosing the winner of this eleventh edition of the trophy, which corresponds to the 2013-14 season and whose delivery has been postponed due to various circumstances. In addition to Iturraspe and Ibai, other rojiblanco premier team players that obtained significant support were Óscar de Marcos, Mikel Rico, Markel Susaeta and Gorka Iraizoz.

This way, Ander Iturraspe takes the baton from goal scorer Aritz Aduriz, who was the lion accredited with the trophy in the previous edition. It will be recalled that regulations with regards to this award excludes players from receiving the prize more than once.

As has occurred in preceding years, the event will be opened with the honorary Aurresku, that will pave the way to the trophy presentation and a short colloquy with the awarded player and the rest of Athletic institutional members that will be present in Zalla, made up on this occasion by Board member Yolanda Lazaro, the head of External Relations Javier Ucha and two veteran lions that never miss these occasions, Koldo Agirre and Jose Maria Argoitia.
