The best stadium of the world

San Mamés has been awarded at the World Architecture Festival in the category ‘Sport-Complete Building’ held between the days 4th and 6th November in Marina Bay Sands (Singapore).

The most important annual event in the world of architecture has awarded San Mamés with this distinction, only a few months later since the end of its building (full work were finished in Spring).

A fusion of modernity and technology without losing any advanced security measure, were some of the ingredients which convinced the jury as well as the quality of its architecture, its importance in the urban landscape and the development of the city of Bilbao have also received a special valuation.

San Mamés has competed with other nine installations around the world: Fisht Olympic Stadium (Sochi), London Aquatics Centre (England) or the Margaret Court Arena (Melbourn), among others.
