The Thinking Football Film Festival comes to an end. This Tuesday, 19 April, the last two documentary films will be screened, the video-creation prize in Euskera will be awarded and the People’s Choice Award for the 2016 winning film will be announced.

At 18:00 hours, Thinking Football will welcome the screening of “Gol de Cuba”, by Belgian film director Remo Beutels. The small Cuban town of Zulueta lives the football World Cup every four years as if it was being held there. Their greatest pride is their stadium, according to them, the best one in the whole Caribbean. The best team and best fans of all of Cuba are found in Zulueta. Their dream is to someday see their youngsters representing their country in a football World Cup.

Remo Beutels, the director of “Gol de Cuba” will be at the disposal of attendees to answer questions about the documentary after the screening.

Later, at 20:00 hours, the award to the winning piece of video-creation in Euskera will be announce which Thinking Football has proclaimed along with Loraldia festival. The winner will be screened and the prize will be presented by Joxe Angel Iribar.

After this, the last documentary of the festival will be screened. Directed by Mario Bucci, “Una meravigliosa stagione fallimentare” narrates the story of El Bali; an Italian team in bankruptcy that is able to face up to all sorts of adversities: last positions of the B Series, auctions by the club to which nobody appeared… The players even had to organize fundraisers to be able to pay the team’s travels to other cities to play. Finally, thanks to the support of the fans, the team emerged and was back in competition. The film was awarded the Golden Eleven by the prestigious football film festival 11mm of Berlin.

After the screening of “Una meravigliosa stagione fallimentare” there will be a short debate with film director, Mario Bucci, led by La Gazzetta de lo Sport journalist, Filippo Ricci.

And finally, after the debate, the 2016 edition of the Thinking Football Audience Choice Award for winning film will be announced. The prize is equipped with a sculpture by artist Angel Garraza, in addition to 2,000 Euro, that film director shall donate to a social project related to the sport.
