Athletic Club’s Denial

Athletic Club wishes to deny its members certain statements made by certain media today

In relation to the information published about an alleged meeting held in Ibaigane in which Alberto Uribe-Echevarria, a resigned member of the outgoing Board of Directors, would have participated, this Club wishes to remind that Alberto Uribe-Echevarria has ceased in his functions since the beginning of the electoral period, which is why he does not carry out any type of activity or attend meetings in the Club’s facilities.

In relation to the information published stating that the Club has delivered certain documentation in Ibaigane, this entity wishes to state that it has not received any request nor has it delivered financial or economic documentation to any member.

Athletic Club has at the disposal of its members all the documentation approved in the last Ordinary General Assembly – in situ and in different digital media-, which reflects faithfully and audited, the economic and patrimonial situation of the Club, which we qualify as excellent, with a positive net worth of 134 million euros at 30th June 2019 and additionally, a provision of 76 million euros, not counting a budgeted surplus for the 2018-2019 financial year of 60.2 million euros.

Following the denied information and in relation to the electoral period in which the Club is immersed, Athletic Club wishes to remind that in addition to the Statutes of this entity, it is the legislation in force that determines the necessary requirements to be able to be a candidate for the Presidency of the Club. Among them, there is the obligation to guarantee at the beginning of their mandate the 15% of the annual expenditure budget, as established since 1990 in the Sport Law (Ley del Deporte), a requirement that all the Boards of Directors of Athletic Club have fulfilled since that date.
