ATHLETIC 2018: Letter from the President

We close a different year, hard to forget.

Many things have happened in the Athletic family in these twelve months.

We cannot forget at this time those who have left us and will not be with us in San Mames next year, goian beude.

A detail for Kepa Junkera and for all the Athleticzales to whom, at this moment, the health demands an effort, from tomorrow: a lot of strength.

But I don’t want to miss this opportunity to congratulate all the Athletic families for their effort, once again, our unique philosophy, which allows each Athletic Club staff to make history every day, every month and every year, starting with the women’s team and up to the last red-and-white younger.

Of course, I can not forget that a few hours ago the members of Athletic participated in an election to renew our Board of Directors.

We could focus on the results, but I would like to emphasise and highlight this message on wishing you a happy year, Urte berri on, peace and health, good health, each and every one of the members, whether or not they voted in Ibaigane on 27th December, whether or not they voted for one candidate or another, whether they worked for one or the other and, of course, to the members who formed part of both, I would like to send you all the strongest of hugs.

Allow me to personalise this wish of health and good year in Mr. Alberto Uribe-Echevarria and in the previous president of the Athletic Mr. Josu Urrutia Telleria. I can only wish you the best 2019 possible personally and professionally.

The Athletic is a Club of hearts, plural in race, ideology or any condition, all your heartbeats are welcome, we only ask you to share our way of understanding the sport of football, competing with ours, with those at home.

To all red-and-white hearts, wherever they are, we only ask that they beat strong in 2019, very strong!

Of course, support and reinforce a special wish for the professional sports teams of our Club. Our illusion for 2019 is to improve and compete, we know that it is your greatest desire to draw a special year for everyone.

I do not want to forget any of the workers of the red-and-white family, even the most modest of the positions. We are all essential for this new twelve-month journey.

In Bilbao, Bizkaia and Euskadi some hearts are not red-and-white, but they defend other sports disciplines and other colours from the effort and values, we do not forget them in our desires.

It would be unfair to forget our rivals. We send from the Athletic Club a wish of health for all those who in 2019 are on the other side of the pitch.
