Thinking Football: De Marcos, Gurpegui and Lou Engelfield on Football and Homophobia

On March 21, the Thinking Football Film Festival will screen the Swiss film “Mario”, which tells a love story between two players in a professional football team. What would happen? What would be the reactions of their team mates, the club and their environment? Would it really be possible today for a professional football player to live a normal life with their homosexuality in Europe, or can cases like those of Robbie Rogers and Collin Martin only take place in the USA? After the film, Mikel San José and Carlos Gurpegui will be at Sala BBK with the director of the Premier League’s Football Against Homophobia campaign, Lou Engelfield, to talk about these and other issues. The discussion will be moderated by the cultural director of the Athletic Club Foundation, Galder Reguera.
