Nearly 200 peñistas (followers) enjoyed an annual event in which this time was awarded to the Peña Garras de Sestao
La Peña del Athletic Club in Espinosa de los Monteros celebrated its traditional July party this weekend. An annual appointment that already fulfills 16 editions and that in this occasion gathered 170 peñistas of 14 peñas of our surroundings and where the directive Begoña Castaño went as official representation of the set red-and-white. There was also the mayor of Espinosa, Raúl Linares, and part of the board of the Trueba, the local football team. A twinning on the rise that only last year was able to raise 1,500 euros to help Maialen Aulestia in his fight against the disease of Donahue Syndrome.
Reception in the town square, parades, poteo and the usual popular food in the porticos next to the consistory of this town of Merindades, historically so linked to Bizkaia and Athletic Club, were the main acts that culminated with the delivery of the Trofeo Sentimiento Zurigorri and the corresponding verbena.
Eight years ago Espinosa de los Monteros also began to highlight the work of other Athletic clubs that generate motors, which stand out for their dedication and red-and-white activity around the social life of the Club. On this occasion the award went to the Peña Garras Taldea de Sestao. Those on the left bank join a list where there are already the clubs of Gamiz-Fika, Gordexola, Zalla, Deusto or the neighbouring Medina de Pomar among others.
