The Carranza trophy, on the way to Bilbao

The Athletic Club ladies’ team returns home by plane with the satisfaction of the trophy won, which will arrive tomorrow at the capital of Bizkaia due to its enormous size

Athletic Club ladies’ team has returned home, by plane from Seville, after the success achieved last night when they won the penalty shootout of the Carranza Trophy final against Tottenham Hotspur. It was a match full of epic and emotion that left the team red-and-white as the first female team to achieve this prize in the 65 editions that have been held.

The Trophy Carranza weighs almost 42 kilos and is a purely handmade work. The enormous size of the new red-and-white conquest has not been able to enter either the bus or the plane of the red and white expedition and finally had to be sent through other means to get to Bilbao. He will thus join in the showcases of San Mamés to the one achieved in 1972 in the men’s final against Benfica.

The team, after the end of the crash, left yesterday from the Ramon de Carranza stadium around one o’clock in the morning towards Jerez de la Frontera. The night has been very short, as the expedition has gone by bus to Seville at eight thirty in the morning to catch a regular flight that has reached the edge of 1 pm to Loiu. The ones directed by Ángel Villacampa will return tomorrow at 11.00 am to the training sessions in Lezama and on Sunday they will face a new friendly meeting. It will be before the CD Osasuna in Medina de Pomar (Burgos) from 12.00 noon onwards.
