Welcoming ceremony for the new lionesses

The youth team and six cadets form Athletic Club female team have been the protagonists today inside San Mamés

This morning, the youth female team and six cadets have been the guests of honour in San Mamés stadium. The thirteen new young incorporations, managed by Amaia Olabarrieta, together with six new cadets, managed by Roberto Pampín, have stepped onto The Cathedral’s pitch, where they aspire to play one day.

Raúl Loroño -head of the Player Support Department-, Joseba Aguirre -sports director of the female area- and Iñaki Alonso -responsible for the children protection programme-, have been the perfect hosts to the young lionesses. Their first contact was on thep field, where their guide Irati has welcomed them to later show them the insights into the red-and-white temple’s history.

Some players even dared to participate in a press conference for the first time in Jose Iragorri press room. They also went for a walk in the mixed area and, of course, they visited Athletic’s changing room, from where they came out of the tunnel onto the pitch. A great experience for the players, who are now our club’s Youth Academy representation and, in the near future, will take over from the current red-and-white professional footballers.
