Educational talks on arbitration

Kike Ortiz de Artiñano, one of the heads of the Arbitration Department of Athletic, has explained the rules and the figure of the referee to all categories of the Club

The Arbitration Department of the Athletic Club has finished with the series of didactic talks with all the categories of the club that began giving last August. The Youths Alirón 2008 were the last to attend the explanations given by Kike Ortiz de Artiñano, one of the members of this area in our club. The former referee has explained all the questions related to the regulations and the novelties carried out in the professional categories. In the basic football categories, the intention has been to bring the refereeing figure closer to the children of Lezama and give them some fundamental knowledge of the rules of the game.

“From the club we ask them to have a respect for the referee figure and to take him as a colleague who is also learning and enjoying the sport just like them; to interrelate with him with sportsmanship. They should be able to shake the referee’s hand when the match is over just as they shake hands with the opponent,”explains Ortiz de Artiñano.

The knowledge of the rules of the game is each player’s responsibility as Kike Ortiz de Artiñano explains in the attached video, an intelligent use of that knowledge is extremely important on the field of play. The former referee has been working since 2007 in the Arbitration Department of the Athletic Club together with the also forfer referee Xabier Losantos Omar.
