The Lions visit IMQ, Cruces and Basurto

The whole Athletic Club’s squad have paid their traditional Christmas visit to IMQ, Cruces and Basurto hospitals

Christmas is coming and, as it became tradition decades ago, some representatives of Athletic Club have visited the children and people hospitalized in IMQ, Cruces and Basurto, giving them encouragement as well as their best wishes for a complete speedy recovery. After their training session at San Mamés, prior to Sunday’s clash against Real Madrid, the men’s first team players split up into groups to visit the three hospitals, visiting the patients and giving them Christmas gifts with a red-and-white touch. The morning was even more special for the little ones, whose best present was enjoying the presence of the Lions, their affection and their company.

Unai Simón, Ganea, Núñez, Iñigo Martínez, Yeray, San José, Beñat, Unai López, Córdoba and Oihan Sancet visited Cruces; while Dani García, Lekue, Vesga, Yuri, Ibai, Aduriz, Capa, Kodro, Balenziaga, Herrerín, Vivian, Villalibre and Raúl García went to Basurto to visit the children.

Due to the trip for the match that the women’s first team is playing on Saturday 21 in Huelva against Sporting Club, our Lionesses could not join this traditional visit to the hospitals this year.

Gowns for IMQ

Athletic Club and its Fundation have extended the red-and-white football-shirt gowns initiative for hospitalized children to the IMQ, the leading private healthcare company in Biscay and one of the main Athletic Club’s sponsors. This is an initiative developed thanks to the collaboration stablished between Athletic Foundation and Osakidetza some years ago, now joined by the IMQ, whose aim is to help in the process to humanize pediatric treatments as much as they can. Iker Muniain and Iñaki Williams were the main protagonists in the visit to the IMQ hospital in Zorrozaurre, where Athletic Club took the opportunity to hold the press conference arranged for today.
