Leading by the example of captain

Athletic Club works internally in Lezama to forge a footballer with values, rooted in the essence of what it means to belong to such a unique entity. We talk about the responsibility involved in defending our colours and, not to mention, setting an example in the locker room, on the field and elsewhere. The captains of our base teams are an important link, as they were joined by two emblems that wear the bracelet with distinction.

Daniel Ruiz-Bazán ‘Dani’, an unrepentant goal scorer, had the honour of winning the latest league titles and sponsoring dozens of lions. Carlos Gurpegi has been a true example of his ability to overcome adversity, making a tremendous impression on the club due to his responsibility and red-and-white transmission. The player from Navarra won the Super Cup award against FC Barcelona, but he still gets the recognition of the team’s adjacent staff, physiotherapists, doctors, kiters…

Raúl Loroño, head of Family Care, and Lezama’s psychologist, David Rincón, accompanied captains of the lower categories, from children to youth, in a talk with both of them. Pride, flag, duties, help and respect were discussed. It is time to lead by example.
