Raúl García: “I hope everything gets better soon”

The red-and-white midfielder answered the questions asked by the supporters and the media #FromHome

Today it was Raúl García’s turn to answer #FromHome the questions that both supporters and the media asked him via Athletic Clubs’s social networks. In such an atypical and delicate situation that our society is going through, the footballer from Navarre, amidst the current uncertainty, always tries to think positively: “The most important thing right now is to wait for this situation to end and we must do everything in our hands to help it be over as soon as possible, all of us need to do our part. Try to be positive, as I always say, to see things in the best possible light.”

A large number of questions were directly related to the Copa del Rey final where Athletic will face Real Sociedad. Raúl García did not hide his priorities: “I prefer thinking about day-to-day life, expecting everyone’s health starts getting better, hoping there are no more deaths. We are living such a difficult moment that, in my opinion, worrying about the final would be selfish. Some people are going to have a really hard time. We must show respect for them, the rest is secondary.”

The red-and-white midfielder talked about his training routine during the quarantine: “The club and the coaching team are providing us with everything they can so that we can continue having a good training routine and we do not get out of shape. What I find the hardest is to train within four walls and the fact we have to stick to very demanding workout routines to keep fit. I know all the work I have to do and I do it every day to try to build myself up.”

Plenty of people asked him what Athletic Club means for him: “I was looking forward to coming here. A lot of friends of mine who had been in it spoke highly of the Club. To be honest, it is even better than what they had told me. It is only when you are in that you realise how much this team means for everyone. Not only for the players, but for all the supporters that feel Athletic is part of themselves. I think that’s a plus other teams do not have. It’s a special club, very familial, which relies on local people, and all this is better appreciated from the inside.”

Finally, Raúl García wanted to thank “those who are putting their best foot forward. We have absolute trust in you and, with your capacity, everything will be soon back to normal.”
