Moraza: “I am getting to know myself better”

The red-and-white international player has answered #FromHome to the questions asked by journalists and Athletic supporters via the social networks

Ainhoa Moraza is a quiet footballer off the pitch and that is allowing her to manage with enough serenity the situation of confinement decreed by the Covid-19. “It is not easy, we are used to training as a team and doing it at home is difficult. But we have to take it as well as we can and being at home is the way we can help,” admits the Athletic Club defender. With so much time at home and away from the usual routine, Ainhoa confesses she is getting to know herself better. “In the past, I found it very difficult to start reading, but I am finding time for other things, like cooking… ,” she says with a smile.

“Coming to Athletic was a good decision”

Among the questions asked by journalists and supporters via social networks is one that talks about her Txuriurdin past. The one from Añorga played three seasons in Real Sociedad before wearing the red-and-white shirt and winning the league in her first year at Athletic in 2016. “I got a lot of jokes from people around me when I came here because all my friends are from Real. But coming to Athletic was what I wanted and it was a good decision.” Moraza renewed in November until June 2022 with the club from Bilbao and made her debut with the Spain national team in the “She Believes Cup” in the United States last March 11.

In the virtual press conference, Ainhoa recalls how she had to choose between athletics and football at the age of 11, her habits and her music before playing a match, and the economic situation that is already affecting women’s football. “It is not just about women’s football, it is about the whole of society and I want to send my support to all those who are suffering from it.” Moraza did not miss the opportunity to send her encouragement to all the people who are still working on this coronavirus health crisis.
