Iago Herrerín and Alex Mumbrú (Barcelona, 1979) are the participants of this special edition of the virtual press conferences #FromHome. The red-and-white goalkeeper and the coach of Bilbao Basket have had an interesting talk in which they have not hidden their interest in the sport they practice and the team to which each one belongs.

“I have always been a great basketball fan. Besides, I have lived an incredible time of Spanish basketball, with great victories. I know Alex (Mumbrú) from watching him on TV when he played for Madrid and the Spain national team. Once here, we met after one of his games and it was a pleasure to have him around and to share some time together. I try to watch them whenever I can, and I enjoy doing it. I almost watch more basketball than football,” says Herrerín.

Mumbrú, for his part, describes his impressions of Athletic: “It is impossible to be a child in Bilbao and not be an Athletic fan. My children wear the Athletic shirt to school. It is like a religion. It is just a genetic thing, people live it to the fullest. It makes everyone want to play football, and Athletic takes advantage of that. They have a very clear philosophy about young players, and they invest a lot in that. It reminds me a lot of Joventut de Badalona, the club I come from.”

Among other things, the red-and-white goalkeeper and the coach of the men in black have talked about the position in which they would be placed by turning the tables: “Iago would be a good point guard, placing and ordering the team,” comments Mumbrú. “With Alex I have no doubts. Because of his height, either as a goalkeeper or as a striker, he should learn how to head the ball,” says Herrerín jokingly.
