Stress testing at IMQ Zorrozaurre

The first women’s team went through the stress testing this morning at IMQ Zorrozaurre. at the beginning of the second week that corresponds to the pre-season

The first Athletic Club women’s team carried out the relevant medical examinations this morning at IMQ Sports Medicine Unit at the Zorrotzaurre Clinic. Very early, this morning, the players led by Ángel Villacampa have undergone the different usual tests in which the anti COVID-19 safety measures have been present at all times.

Dr. Pablo Aranda, head of IMQ’s Sports Medicine Unit, in coordination with the Club’s medical services, which are led by Dr. Josean Lekue, has conducted a complete sports medical examination for the members of the team. “The team has arrived even better this year. The fact that they have been training for a week before coming to the examinations has made them better physically“, said Aranda.

The examination has analysed their health and included, among other things, a maximum lactate threshold test, to identify the aerobic and anaerobic level of each player, which is useful in order to schedule better training sessions. The examination carried out by IMQ also included an isokinetic testing, a joint strength and mobility testing, an electrocardiogram and a treadmill stress test to get obtaining heart rates.

After a first contact at Zamudio in June, the lionesses have returned to Lezama, where they will carry out the entire pre-season until the League starts, on September 5. After the acknowledgement, Erika Vázquez underlined the enthusiasm of the group: “We have been here for a week now and we are really looking forward to it. We have been waiting for this moment for a long time and hopefully everything will go well and we can start with the matches as soon as possible. The preseason looks good and the League looks hard, so the best we can do is to get ready and strong, it will help us a lot”.
