New projects of the Foundation (3/4): Itsasbegi Sortarazi

The Sortarazi Association was created in 1991 to promote and contribute to the comprehensive development of men and women at risk or in a situation of social exclusion

At the Itsasbegi centre in Algorta, the Sortarazi Association runs the Argitzean Night Shelter service, the Antxeta Stay and Day Care service and the Uribenea Care Service for the Social Needs of Inclusion, all of which are aimed at people at risk or in a situation of social exclusion. Argitzean offers a place to rest and sleep, and covers basic hygiene and food needs. Antxeta is also a place to go to during the day where social accompaniment, and professional emotional care and support are offered. Lastly, Uribenea is a secondary care service that offers users a set of both technical and complementary services, of a multipurpose nature, aimed at their process of social inclusion and integration, ensuring that they do not become detached from their usual environment and offering them personalised support on their path to inclusion. Its objective is to provide people with the maximum degree of autonomy and to promote their social inclusion.

The weekly training sessions run by the Foundation’s coaches promote participation in sports activities in a climate of mutual help, an experience that incorporates habits and values that help with the work at the Itsasbegi de Sortarazi centre.
