San Mamés turns pink for the International Day against Breast Cancer

San Mamés’ exterior lights up to raise awareness in the fight against breast cancer

The pink ribbon has become a global symbol of the daily fight against breast cancer. By lighting up San Mamés on the International Day against Breast Cancer, Athletic Club is hoping to help raise awareness by paying tribute to all of those who have battled or are battling against the disease.

According to the World Health Organization, breast cancer accounts for 16% of all cancer diagnoses in female patients and annual statistics indicate that the number of cases is increasing. Despite the complications caused by the current coronavirus pandemic, it is still more important than ever that women have access to adequate early screening processes in order to prevent this illness or diagnosis it early so they can receive prompt and effective treatment.
