Live: #Lezama50 events

The first events in the commemoration of Lezama

The two talks set to take place at Lezama in celebration of the complex’s 50th anniversary have been preceded by two events. First of all, an honorary ‘aurresku’ -a traditional Basque dance, common at events like this- and the relocation of Telmo Zarra’s bust, which was temporarily moved during construction work.

The first discussion will be with Iribar, Urkiaga and Guerrero, and the second with Alkorta, Muniain and Erika Vazquez.

Erika is the Club’s top female goalscorer, with 261 goals over 16 seasons. Club captain Iker Muniain arrived at Lezama as a 12-year-old, now 28, he is ninth in the Club’s all-time appeareance makers list with 444.

Given the current pandemic, there will be a limited presence at the events. A small group from the Board of Directors, headed by club president, Aitor Elizegi, will be present, as will iconic footballers who have come through Lezama: Santiago Urkiaga, José Ángel Iribar, Andoni Ayarza and Andoni Goikoetxea, as well as current captains and head-coaches Iker Muniain, Erika Vázquez, Marcelino and Iraia Iturregi.

Furthermore the Club has invited Lezama icons Manuel Delgado Meco and Félix Oraa’s son, José Mari. Felix was the president who oversaw the creation of the facilites in 1971.
