Interview with Ernesto Valverde

Ernesto Valverde discussed a range of questions related to the photographic exhibition “Beste Aldea” (“The Other Side”), in an extensive interview granted exclusively to the Athletic Club Foundation. The collection consists of 24 large black and white photographs that can be viewed, free of charge, in the Exhibition Hall at the Ensanche Building (in Bilbao) until October 28. In his conversation with Galder Reguera, Project Manager at the Athletic Club Foundation, Valverde spoke about his career as a photographer from his time as a player to the present day.

Ernesto is also the author of two published books of photographs: “Medio tiempo” (“Half-time”, 2012) and “Frontera” (“Border”, 2021). His style is characterised by the search for snapshots that generate a certain sense of unease and uncertainty in the viewer, but are strangely close at the same time. In “The Other Side”, Valverde uses an unusual perspective to portray groups of fans at teams such as Athletic Club, Olympiakos FC and FC Barcelona.
