Full-back Mikel Balenziaga reached 300 official appearances for Athletic Club with involvement against Real Betis at San Mamés on December 19. A milestone which not just any professional footballer can achieve. Mikel arrived at Athletic as a 20-year-old, and played his first game on September 14 2008, against Málaga at La Rosaleda.
Now, at the age of 33, established as one of Athletic’s team leaders and, with two Super Cup trophies to his name, a revered figure in the dressing room. We take a look at some of the key moments from his 11 years as a Lion.
