Marcelino believes the Lions “are in good form” and are having “a very good season”
Athletic Club head coach praised the comprehensive manner of the Lions’ 4-0 Basque Derby victory over Real Sociedad on Sunday night.
The Lions blew the visitors away in the second half, scoring four goals in the space of 20 minutes at San Mamés.
“We scored four goals against a side that had gone four matches without conceding,” Marcelino said after the LaLiga Santander clash.
“It was a very complete performance against a good team, as their results and league position show.
“It was brilliant. Especially after we made it 2-0, because even with the score in our favour, we didn’t take our foot off the accelerator.
“It’s a delight to experience another magical night at San Mamés. I’m extremely proud of my players and very pleased with the way they played tonight.”
The boss continued: “It’s no coincidence. I think the team is in great form. We’re having a very good season. What we have to try to do is strengthen the good things and correct our mistakes.
“From there, the idea is to try, regardless of the opposition, to do our best to win games. If we achieve that, we’ll keep improving as a side.”.
