Lezama sets out scouting strategy

On Tuesday a training day was held with the entire recruitment structure to establish the guidelines for their work

Athletic Club's recruitment department met up on Tuesday to establish scouting processes, a long-term plan for the coming years and objectives for the current season, as well as general guidelines for working and operating each of the territories where our scouts carry out their duties.

Under the supervision of Raúl Loroño, head of scouting and recruitment, and in agreement with Mikel González, director of development, a training day took place in Lezama with the aim of identify existing needs and setting out a clear idea as to the player profiles Athletic Club are looking for.

In addition, the meeting helped all the members in the recruitment network get to know each other better, especially as over the year one of the targets is for each of the scouts to be in charge of a particular region, meaning they will not have much contact. Furthermore, with the implementation of new technology, it was a good moment to train the group of scouts in the use of these tools.

As the recruitment network has been expanded in areas outside Biscay, the department will be led by Raul Loroño. Under him there are four co-ordinators: Rafa Arteagabeitia, Jorge Portillo, Asier Guisasola and Kike Mayayo. Then there are 13 scouts in Bizkaia, four in Gipuzkoa, three in Navarre and three in Alava.
