Athletic Club's 2023/24 pre-season

Athletic Club's 2023/24 pre-season friendly schedule is now fully confirmed. Before LaLiga 2023/24 kicks off on August 12, the Lions will play six warm-up matches, four of them taking place abroad.

Ernesto Valverde's side return to training at Lezama on Thursday 6 July and will have a week of preparations before travelling to Mexico for their first two pre-season games, against Chivas on Sunday 16 July and Club Necaxa on Wednesday 19 July.

Once back in Bilbao, Los Leones will visit the Cantabrian town of Sarón to face Racing Club Santander on Thursday 27 July.

After passing the halfway point of the pre-season, Athletic will have their two main events of the summer, taking on Champions League sides in the form of Celtic FC (Glasgow, August 1) and Manchester United (Dublin, August 6). The warm-up against the Red Devils will be Los Rojiblancos' last match before the season kicks off.

In between, Athletic will play Joseba Etxeberria's SD Eibar on Thursday 3 August at Sestao River's Estadio Las Llanas.
