Promising meeting with business leaders in Aguascalientes

This follows on from Athletic Club's meeting in Mexico City, which was attended by the President of Liga MX and local representatives

On Tuesday evening in Aguascalientes, Athletic Club held a second meeting with a collection of Mexican business leaders with the aim of building ties in the country. It follows on from a similar conference held in Mexico City on Monday, which was attended by Mikel Arriola, the president of Liga MX.

Under the guidance of Gloria María Romo, Aguascalientes' secretary of tourism, some twenty local representatives of the most important companies and institutions in the region learned about Athletic's philosophy and unique stature via club president Jon Uriarte and directory general Jon Berasategi. Some of the attendees had already visited San Mames or visited Bilbao on different trips.

Jon Berasategi explained how the club has been "preparing for this trip for some time" with the matches against Chivas and Necaxa providing an opportunity to create links "with Mexico on a social, institutional and business level".

He continued: "Athletic is of interest in Mexico. LaLiga's audience figures in this country prove it. After FC Barcelona, Real Madrid and Atlético Madrid, we are the club with the best audience figures.

"We've had two meetings, one in Mexico City and another one here in Aguascalientes, with important companies and institutions from different sectors. They've shown us how curious they are about what Athletic Club represents in the world of football and our unique way of understanding the sport. We're looking for this to help us find, in the future, possible business partners who share our ideas and values."
