Manuel Pernas Alonso, who was a member of the Athletic Club first team squad during the 1956-57 season, passed away on 12 February 2005 in Bilbao.

Pernas, a renowned midfielder, arrived in Athletic at the hand of Fernando Daucik, with whom he disputed four matches, all of them of friendly nature.

Manuel Pernas wore the red-and-white jersey for the first time on 12 October 1956 against Baracaldo, and he left the club after the match played against the FK Austria in San Mamés on 1 January 1957.

When the Czech technician left, Pernas also left the club, continuing his career in Levante.Funeral services will be held this Monday, 14 February, at 19:00 in San Felicisimo (Deusto). May he rest in peace.
