The Athletic Club Expedition is in Huelva after a long journey which started at 16:00 hours in Lezama. The flight departed from Bilbao Airport at 17:00 hours and landed at around 19:00 hours at the airport in Seville, where the club bus was waiting for them. The bus made its way towards Punta Umbría at 19:20 and arrived at the Barceló Hotel at 21:00 hours, headed by the board members; Jorge Alejandre, Emilio Prieto and Santiago Ansareo.
Inside the hotel and at the hotel door, they received a warm welcome by dozens of Red-White fans, however, the autograph-signing session had to be cancelled because of the expedition’s late arrival; dinner was at 21:00 hours. Furthermore, the situation got worse not just because of the long wait but because of some incidents with the Civil Guards who were at the Hotel door.
In the end and after some actions were taken by Athletic Club, several members of the Lepe Supporters’ Club who weren’t able to enter the hotel earlier were allowed to enter so that they could give player Fernando Amorebieta a cake to celebrate his birthday. Athletic Club would like to express its gratitude to all those fans that made up the welcoming committee, and regrets having to call off the autograph-signing session.
