Inauguration of ‘The History of a Hymn’ Exhibition

Tomorrow the 3rd of April at 19:30 hours in the Athletic Club Exhibition and Trophy Room (San Mamés, Gate 26), and to mark the occasion of the 25th anniversary, last Sunday the 30th, of the Club’s official hymn or club song, “The History of a hymn” exhibition will be inaugurated, and contains information about the genesis and evolution of the most important songs that have accompanied Athletic during its over one hundred year history.

The “Athleticen kantak. A century of red-white songs” record will be launched during the inauguration. Brought out by the club as a result of the research which had been done in order to prepare the exhibition, the record contains a compilation of fourteen songs associated with Athletic Club.

The composers or their relatives have confirmed that they will be at the inauguration and are as follows; Antton Zubikarai, Carmelo Bernaola, Goyo Nadal, Timoteo Urrengoechea, Los 5 bilbainos, Indarra, La Otxoa and M.C.D among others. Furthermore, Institutional representatives and representatives from the Basque Mining Museum will also be in attendance, along with Athletic Club; President Fernando García Macua, Board members, the coaching squad, First Division players and members of the Ex-Players’ Association.

What’s more, prior to the start of the match against Espanyol, the Municipal Band of Bilbao and the Txistularis Band will perform the Athletic Club Song to mark the occasion of its 25th anniversary. A total of 47 musicians, conducted by Iñaki Urkizu, will step onto the San Mamés field.
